"Coexist in the Middle East" is an initiative to promote coexistence in Israel.  The course offers 3 credit hours through the Rothberg International School of Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

The job market has been particularly difficult for recent graduates.  With a new graduating class coming through, the job market will become even more competitive.  Here is Hillel's way of trying to offer some help.  

Masa Israel offers a number of programs to spend 5-12 months in Israel.  Whether it's taking this time off to learn, explore Israel, make a difference volunteering, or getting an internship to make you a more competitive future employee.  Programs are in many disciplines, including arts, business, environment, health, social justice and technology, just to name a few.  

Follow this simple, 5-Step process to getting to Israel.

The Jeanette K. Watson Fellowship provides paid internships, mentoring and enriched educational opportunities to promising New York City undergraduates.

Eligibility

Eligible students are second semester freshman or sophomores who are full-time students with an intention to pursue liberal arts major. All applicants must be American citizens or “green card” holders. Since this is a competitive application, the academic standing of each student is a major consideration so it is recommended that a student should have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The Fellowship

The fellowship consists of three paid summer internships. Students are encouraged to take the third summer internship overseas. Each internship lasts 10 weeks and students will work in non-profit, government and private enterprise. Summer programs includes cultural activities in New York, and workshops with civic and business leaders

A Watson Fellowship provides experiences and insights about future vocations including options for graduate school, and assistance in presenting compelling applications for national fellowships and scholarships.

The Commitment

Watson Fellows are expected to make a commitment to three summers, from June 1 – August 6, including some weekends and evenings. Four seminars are held on Saturdays during the semester. Fellows will not be able to accept employment during this time.

Finalists

Four semi-finalists will be chosen from Baruch to compete with students from 12 CUNY colleges. In the final selection, fifteen students are selected to be JK Watson Fellows.

The Application Process

The application consists of:

  • Resume
  • Official college transcripts
  • Two essays
  • Two letters of recommendation

 

The deadline for Baruch applications is February 26, 2010. CUNY Finalists will be selected March 25, 2010

You will need two recommendations. One should be from a faculty member who knows you well, and one may be from a supervisor or advisor who knows you outside of a classroom setting. Requests for recommendation letters should be started immediately.
